Support „Nepal Component III Course“

In September 2023, the “Component III” mountain guide course for aspiring guides in Nepal was successfully completed. This three-week course is part of the mountain guide training programme of the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA) and is organised annually by the Nepal National Mountain Guides Association (NNMGA). The Swiss Sherpa Foundation supports this training programme in partnership with the IFMGA.

The Aspirant Guide course (AGC) – 2022/23, Component III started on 21st August at Kathmandu with the theory classes on Mountain History and Geography for 2 days. After the theory classes, the team moved to Manang (Kangla Mountainous region) for further alpine practice and final evaluation on 25th August. They spent around 1 month there until 23rd September 2023 tro complete the course. There were 11 trainees and 6 guide instructors with a kitchen team on this component III course.
